I checked my email one last time before I left for work this morning. Then I checked my email when I sat down at work, and lo and behold there was a new email from Alan David Doane at Comic Book Galaxy. He did a review of my book. It will be on his site tomorrow. I have taken the liberty of adding a link on this site. It's located right over there------>. It was a good, nice and honest review. I thanked Mr. Doane. Then, I got an email from Izzy Tart, who having picked up SV:IMAG at San Diego is going to be writing about it next month in the 'Read This or Die' column on Sequential Tart. That is so cool. Plus, I remembered her boyfriend buying the book for her--nice guy. Now I've got to put my attention to the mailings I have to get ready this weekend--they'll go out to retailers next week to coincide with the new issue of Previews with SV:IMAG listed on page 274, item code SEP022027. Check it out. Also, SV is already available from Cold Cut if you like those guys. Swell bunch of guys.

And in case you can't tell, I'm procrastinating right now. My last semester of Grad School starts next week and I'm in the middle of doing revisions on my MFA Thesis paper. They're not necessarily hard revisions, I'm just wiped out. There are advantages to working at the same place you go to school, but there are also drawbacks, i.e., in addition to getting myself ready for school, stuff is crazy at work as everyone makes the last mad dashes to make sure things are ready for all of the students to start classes again next week. And, oh yeah, I'm also trying to finish my next book... SV: Book Two... well, I DO have a working title, but I'm not sharing it, as I'd really like to come up with something more meaningful or clever. But then again I did just go pretty straightforward with 'I Met a Girl.' We'll see. I'm going back to my paper now--which incidentally, I'll post here once it's done. Another thing I need to do--I'm going to update the 'Behind the Scenes' section to include my paper, other things I've written regarding comics, more pictures and eventually some concept stuff and info about original pages. Elvis has left the building...

So I forgot my tent. And I almost ran out of gas 3 or 4 times. At least I made it home. Forgetting my tent wasn't such a big deal--I just put down the seats in the back of my Saturn and rolled out my sleeping bag there. Besides the campground I was staying at wasn't that much of a campground. As for almost running out of gas, I drove around Utah on the way home--there's nothing to see and the gas stations were too infrequent and weren't well marked from the Interstate. On the plus side, because I drove through Arizona and New Mexico on the way back I got to stop and see the Berringer Meteor Crater in Arizona. That was cool.

The convention went well. Sales were good and I talked to a lot of people I needed to talk to. All in all it was very successful--it just got a little numbing standing at a table by myself for 10 hours everyday. But I can't complain, I did well. I even managed to get sketches of Herobear by Mike Kunkel and Usagi Yojimbo by Stan Sakai for Cori after the convention closed one day. The retailers I spoke with and sold books to were pretty excited by all this.

Fallcon here in Minneapolis is next up, but that isn't until October so I've got time to take care of lots of things behind the scenes. The other big thing will be the Previews listing in September, so it will be interesting to see how the orders look. Keep your fingers crossed.

I am home from San Diego--got back around 2pm yesterday. I am still tired, but I swear I will write about my trip very soon. Thanks again of course to everyone who is helping me out by taking an interest in SV.
